MAY 2016
This month, make the most of the great outdoors on a COMO vacation. Our locations present unique opportunities not only for active excursions, from kayaking in the Turks and Caicos to hiking volcanoes in Bali’s heart, but also an awakening of the spirit. A COMO journey is designed to inspire
you to embrace a world of possibility, whether you’re mountain biking through the mist-swirled mountains of Bhutan or diving deep among the colourful reefs of the Indian Ocean. We will guide you safely and knowledgeably, not just cocoon you in the luxuries we’ve finessed over our 25 years in the game.

The new Bonny Creek Kayaking Waterway adventure is now available at Parrot Cay by COMO, our award-winning private island resort in the Turks and Caicos. Stretching two-and-a-half miles through the island’s wetlands, this creek is named after Anne Bonny, a pirate who used Parrot Cay as her hiding place in the 18th century. The natural world she experienced remains unchanged – leatherback sea turtles, bonefish, nurse sharks, and brown pelicans – which can be experienced by kayak, or stand-up paddleboard. When you’re done with the diving and kayaking at Point Yamu by COMO in Phuket, slip into Bangkok for a night’s stay at the Metropolitan by COMO. Here the great outdoors appears as a feast on a plate. The hotel’s ‘nahm’ restaurant is recognised as one of the top 10 restaurants in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2016 sponsored by S. Pellegrino and Acqua Panna. Signature dishes created by chef David Thompson include tamarind and chilli relish with grilled catfish, or neem leaves and kingfish salad with pomelo, lemongrass and lime. The ‘nahm Experience’ costs from THB 9,770 for two people including bed, breakfast and a tasting menu for two (subject to tax and service charge). Click here to book.
Maalifushi by COMO is a resort defined by its delicious remoteness in the southern Maldives. It’s a place where discerning surfers can revel in the lack of crowds. To this location COMO provides elevated access, with a full-time surf guide now available during the main surf season, from April to October. Adam Webster, from luxury surf pioneers Tropicsurf, has the keys to the kingdom, opening up more than a dozen breaks. He also provides one-on-one tuition to first-time surfers, including families. A TREASURY
OF SURF AND SAND
Some of Australia’s best-known surf breaks can be found to the west of the Margaret River area, a three-hour drive from Perth – where COMO The Treasury opened last year. Closer to the hotel, within a 15-minute drive, is Cottesloe Beach. This mile-long stretch of beach extending from Fremantle to the southern rocks of Swanbourne Beach is where locals come to swim, snorkel and watch the sun set over the Indian Ocean. Partake of the watersports, or a coastline walk with clear views out to Rottnest Island.
The Pleasures of Eating Well: Nourishing Favourites from the COMO Shambhala Kitchen, is sure to please cooking fans. Filled with 147 classics from the COMO Shambhala kitchens, each recipe has been adapted for a home setting.
