Mii amo is a destination spa in Sedona’s Boynton Canyon built around highly personalised wellbeing Journeys rather than a conventional hotel-spa stay. Guests stay in a small collection of casitas and suites and combine treatments, consultations, fitness, reflective practices, dining and time in the red-rock landscape within a structured but deliberately non-prescriptive programme.

Why Mii amo is different
Mii amo’s central idea is ‘Intentional Wellbeing’. Rather than handing every guest the same timetable, the retreat encourages visitors to define what matters to them now and then work with a Journey Guide to shape the stay around those priorities. That can mean stress recovery, movement, personal reflection, creativity, outdoor adventure or simply a quieter period away from normal routines.
The setting does much of the work. Boynton Canyon gives the retreat a strong sense of place, and the design deliberately frames the surrounding red rock rather than isolating guests from it. For some visitors that landscape will be as important as any individual treatment.
Spa and wellbeing facilities
The spa has 26 treatment and consultation rooms, including a dedicated consultation wing with its own relaxation area. The menu combines conventional massage and bodywork with more specialised options such as active-recovery massage, lymphatic work, cupping, neuromuscular therapies, meditation and private wellbeing consultations. Skincare partners currently include BABOR and VOYA.
Communal facilities include a pool, sauna, whirlpool and steam room. Journey guests also have access to private gathering and relaxation areas, including the Journey Lounge, Journey Plunge Pool and garden. The Sensory Garden, reflexology path, yoga lawn, labyrinth and refreshed Crystal Grotto extend the wellbeing experience beyond the treatment rooms.
Fitness and movement
Mii amo has 3,300 square feet of fitness and movement space overlooking the Sensory Garden. The programme includes group classes and private instruction, and can be shaped around general fitness, strength, mobility or maintaining a routine while travelling. Guests who want more outdoor activity can also use the wider Boynton Canyon setting and the adjoining Enchantment resort’s adventure resources.
The key is not to over-programme. A destination spa can quickly become another productivity project if every hour is filled. Mii amo’s format works best when treatments and classes are balanced with enough unscheduled time to rest, walk, read or simply sit in the canyon.
All-inclusive Journeys
Mii amo Journeys include accommodation, three meals daily at Hummingbird, juices and smoothies, coffee and tea, consultations, lectures, specialty programming and fitness classes. Guests also receive a daily credit that can be used towards spa services or selected activities. Taxes, gratuities and fees on accommodation, spa services and food and beverage are included within the Journey structure, although extras booked beyond the included package can attract additional charges.
Journey lengths are designed around specific arrival patterns, so travellers should confirm the current schedule before booking flights. The 3-night Journey typically uses a Thursday arrival, the 4-night Journey a Sunday arrival, while 7- and 10-night options follow their own fixed patterns. Selected 2-night stays may also be available.
Dining and nutrition
Hummingbird is the main restaurant and focuses on wellness-led dining rather than rigid ‘spa food’. Produce is sourced seasonally, including from the retreat’s own Chef’s Garden and nearby farms, ranches and orchards. The Juice Bar supplies smoothies and fresh drinks during the day and also operates with a fuller beverage offer later on.
For most guests, the useful point is flexibility. A restorative stay does not have to mean restrictive eating. Those with dietary needs should still discuss them before arrival, particularly if nutrition is a major part of the reason for visiting.
Who will enjoy it most?
- Solo travellers: the small scale and guided Journey structure work well for independent stays.
- Couples: particularly when both guests want wellbeing but have different priorities.
- Stress-recovery guests: the combination of spa, reflection, movement and landscape supports a slower reset.
- Active travellers: fitness, recovery treatments and canyon access can be combined without making the stay feel like a boot camp.
- Guests wanting depth: longer Journeys make sense for people who want more than a one-off spa weekend.
How to plan the stay
Begin with the intention, not the treatment menu. Decide what you want to feel differently by the end of the stay, then use the Journey Guide to build around that. Book high-priority treatments early, especially if you want a particular practitioner or time of day. Leave space between physically demanding activities and deep bodywork, and remember that Sedona’s dry climate makes hydration important.
If you are combining Mii amo with hiking or outdoor activity, avoid scheduling an intense treatment immediately before a long trail day. Likewise, if the main purpose is emotional or reflective work, protect quiet time rather than filling the schedule with fitness classes simply because they are available.
The Spa Traveller view
Mii amo is strongest when treated as a genuine destination spa rather than a luxurious place to book a massage. The appeal lies in the combination of small scale, personalised guidance, 26-room spa, movement, food and the distinctive Boynton Canyon setting. Travellers who want a highly medical programme may prefer a clinic-led retreat; those who want a softer, more individual form of structured wellbeing are likely to find Mii amo a better fit.
